Google SearchWiki

The Official Google Blog has made the announcement of a new Google product called SearchWiki. SearchWiki will allow users logged into their Google account to change the order of search results, remove search results, add search results, and add comments to search results. The modifications made will only appear in your own searches by default, but you can also view notes made by other SearchWiki users.

Perhaps Google has learned some things from sites such as Digg and Reddit, and has decided to incorporate some similar features into search. I first heard about the testing of this new feature back in July, when TechCrunch mentioned it. I’m glad to see it has finally made it to production, and it will be interesting to see how well it is received. Hopefully, it doesn’t go the way of Lively.

  1. I have now used Search Wiki for almost 12 hours and I now hate myself. I now agree that Google, Yahoo, and MSN help me find better results than myself. I top listed all of my favorite sites, but what I have learned is that I totally handcuff myself and my ability to find new, relevant information.
